This presentation reports on the design and implementation of Exhibition RoomX (RoomX), a new digital museum developed at Keio Museum Commons in October 2020. RoomX is a platform for "Society", an exhibition that has shifted to digital media in response to the spread of COVID-19.
RoomX was designed to create an exhibition where artworks could meet and interact, using a form of expression that is only possible with digital media, without the yoke of physical space.
It is a digital museum where the narratives that connect the works are dismantled and reconnected each time they are accessed, thus creating unexpected encounters between the works. In this presentation, we will share the practice of Exhibition RoomX and report on the new expression of exhibitions made possible by digital technology, focusing on the coexistence of narrative and serendipity.
