Libraries, museums, archives, etc., which have the mission of preserving cultural and knowledge resources for a long time (including the perspective of long-term preservation and guarantee of long-term use), are facing various challenges in preserving, managing, and utilizing digital data.
However, each organization is facing many problems in the preservation and management of digital data itself, which is the basis of digital archives, such as bit preservation and migration, and is dealing with them individually.
In March 2019, a working group called "Digital Data Management Study Group Provisional," consisting of professionals from libraries, museums, art galleries, archives, and other organizations, as well as experts, started its activities after a call from the Waseda University Museum of Theater, focusing on the issues of digital data preservation and management.
In this session, we will introduce the background of the working group's establishment and the discussions on preservation and management that have taken place during its activities to date
