Kagawa spatio-temporal Digital Archives: Digital archive utilizing MPEG-7 compliant metadata based on space-time
Kagawa University has launched a project to promote digital archiving of local information using spatiotemporal metadata. The purpose of this project is to digitize and add appropriate metadata to valuable primary source materials such as documents, maps, and photographs related to Kagawa Prefecture, and to preserve (archive) them in a form that can be utilized in various fields. In this archive, we are simultaneously conducting research on how to add and manage metadata to primary historical materials with a focus on time and space, and on how to utilize archived information for new information services from multiple perspectives. In this presentation, we will introduce the outline and functions of the "Kagawa Temporal and Spatial Digital Archive," and introduce the design of metadata for archived information such as MPEG-7 compliant images and video, as well as the key points of its utilization. An application programming interface for utilizing archived information for new information services will also be introduced.
