米国大学に所蔵されている対日文化政策に関する占領期資料のデジタル化及び公開

Translated description

2000年以降、経済や外交において文化の影響力が注目されている。その中で、戦後直後に現在の日本文化の基礎がいかに築かれたかを探究することは必須である。しかしながら、国内において当時の関係資料の多くは失われている。本研究では、米国大学所蔵の貴重な文化資料を、国内外で誰もが閲覧可能にすることを目的とし、グローバルな産学の連携により、デジタル化と公開作業を実施している。具体的には、ハワイ大学マノア校図書館の、連合国最高司令官総司令部が1945年から4年間に日本において検閲した歌舞伎脚本の英語版原本（“Stanley Kaizawa Kabuki Collection”）をデジタル化・テキスト化し、一部をインターネットで公開予定である。今後は資料の背景をヒアリング調査等により明らかにする。本研究が、占領期の日本における表現活動の実態を多面的に明らかにすることに寄与し、日本文化史の欠落を補う一助となるとともに、米国の対日文化政策等の関連研究を誘発することが期待される。
