Digital Archiving of School Materials for Area-Based Learning: Educational Environment Using Digital Commons Service
While GIGA schools are being implemented in schools across the country, it immediately becomes apparent that there are very few online sources of information about the community when trying to plan community learning in schools. In particular, it is no exaggeration to say that school district information sources are non-existent in most regions as well. Furthermore, even if there are local resources, it is difficult for teachers to utilize them due to their lack of experience and other reasons.
In order to solve the above issues, we have worked on the construction of a digital archive of school materials using the "d-commons method" based on d-commons.net, a distributed digital commons service that can inclusively support the independent and inquiry-based learning of students that is required in school education from now on. Although digitization of school materials is something that can be done, there are barriers that prevent schools from recognizing and implementing this issue. We hope that this barrier will be removed and that schools across the country will be able to create local learning environments appropriate for the DX era.
