A new digital archiving practice based on a survey of photo archives of daily life in Shiga Prefecture: Digital archiving methods and the construction of relationships between copyright/portrait consent

Recording and preserving photographs of festivals, religious beliefs, daily food, clothing, shelter, and all other aspects of daily life in a particular region is a way of accumulating visualized data (an archive) about the lives of the people there. There are many people who have been taking such photographs in private, but they are rarely seen in the public eye. In addition, their photographs are taken in a more simple style and are closer to people's daily lives than general governmental record photographs, photographs that are more like art works in themselves, and group photographs for special occasions. This is why I think it is important to separate them from other issues.

Therefore, in this report, I named them "Life Photography", and after investigating the current status of their use and preservation methods in a specific region (prefecture), I attempted to create a new archival practice to deal with these problems.
