Demulsification of Silica Stabilized Pickering Emulsions upon Cooling in CTAC Solution

We prepared Pickering emulsions of tetradecane droplets in   cationic surfactant (CTAC) solution at 15  °C, which is stable over time as shown in Video 1. However, spontaneous demulsification was   realized upon cooling at 6  °C (Video 2) due to the reversal of the oil-water interfacial   tension between silica laden interface and CTAC adsorbed film at this   temperature.
