Mr. Yuminamochi’s motion picture on disaster during the 1964 Niigata earthquake
This is the motion picture taken by Mr. Fukuo Yuminamochi. He was at the Niigata airport when the 1964 Niigata earthquake occurred. He took motion video of ongoing liquefaction and settlement of the control tower at the airport. Then, His airplane departed from the airport and took motion pictures of the earthquake damages in Niigata City. The motion picture includes liquefaction-induced ejection of sand at Niigata Airport, fire at the an oil refinery, collapse of the Showa Bridge, and liquefaction damage at the sports stadium etc. This motion picture is published under CC BY-SA and may be freely used by anyone without permission of the current copyright holder, the JGS, provided that the photographer, Fukuo Yuminamochi, and the copyright holder, the Japanese Geotechncial Society, are clearly credited.
