List of Entrepreneurship Research Papers

<p>This dataset comprises a list of research papers used for a systematic review and bibliometric analysis (bibliographic coupling analysis) on entrepreneurship research published between 2000 and 2024 (file name: Entrepreneurship_Literature_List_2000to2024_Sakai & Inoue.csv). The list was compiled based on data collected from the Web of Science (WoS), one of the major academic literature databases, on August 20, 2024. The inclusion criteria for the literature were as follows: first, the paper must include at least one of the following terms in its title, abstract, or keywords: “Entrepreneurial Firm(s)”, “start-up(s)”, “venture(s)”, “new venture(s)”, “new business(s)”, “new firm”, “early stage”, “Entrepreneur(s)”, or “Entrepreneurship”. Second, the paper must belong to the “Business” or “Management” category in WoS. Third, the paper type must be an Article, Review Article, Early Access, or Proceeding Paper, and finally, the paper must be written in English. The publication period considered encompasses all literature published from 2000 onwards. Furthermore, in order to utilize high-quality academic research, the selection was narrowed to include only those papers published in 43 top-tier journals ranked 4* in the 2021 edition of the Academic Journal Guide (AJG) and in three leading entrepreneurship journals (Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal). Based on these selection criteria, a total of 6,278 papers published between 2000 and 2024 were extracted as of August 20, 2024. The aggregate citation count for these papers is 761,831, with an average of 121.35 citations per paper and an h-index of 392. Subsequently, the literature list was further refined by selecting only those papers with an average of at least 15 citations per year, resulting in a final dataset of 1,090 papers, which were analyzed in eight-year intervals (file name: AAOSTransactions_Analyzed Literature List_Sakai & Inoue.xlsx).</p>
