Data on the Viscosity in DEM Simulations for Complex Flow Regimes
This CSV dataset was used to study the viscous effects in a thin fluid film between particles at varying viscosities and to compare the results of DEM simulations to PEPT experimental data. CSV files 1_viscosity_vs_ww.csv and 2_viscosity_vs_milltime.csv were used in the plot in Fig. 3, where the viscosity of various water/glycerol mixtures was compared to the parametrisation by Cheng (2008). CSV files 3_vel_vs_depth_pept.csv and 4_vel_vs_depth_dem.csv were used to create the plot in Fig. 4 which displayed the mean scaled tangential velocity, vt / (d g)1/2 at various points along perpendicular slices of the flowing layer for both PEPT and DEM data. Files 5_dem.csv and 6_pept.csv were used to plot Fig. 5 where the relationship between St and Fr is shown in the (i) rising region, (ii) flowing layer and (iii) all bed locations.
