Biotic and abiotic environmental conditions in two study sites on the ridge of Mt. Hachiman at the Hakkoda mountain range, Aomori Prefecture.
Data about results of forest census and measurements data of abiotic environmental conditions in two study sites on the ridge of Mt. Hachiman at the Hakkoda mountain range, Aomori Prefecture. Surveys and measurements were conducted from 2017 to 2019. At the time of forest census, there were 875 individuals (18 tall tree species) and 297 individuals (13 tall tree species) in “Forest site” (0.4 ha) and “Shrub site” (0.1 ha), respectively. In the data, individual densities, basal areas, and logarithmic transformed values for the basal area were summarized for each of Fagus crenata, Quercus crispula, and other species in each plot. Also, soil moisture content, maximum snow depth and slope angle are shown for each plot as abiotic environmental conditions. The center of the study site is located at 40.70046944 N, 140.99795555 E for “Forest site” and 40.69936388 N, 140.99813888 E for “Shrub site”.
