Algal rhodopsins encoding diverse signal sequence holds potential for expansion of organelle optogenetics: Sequence dataset for analysis

Rhodopsin sequences were retrieved from the JGI Phycocosm database. Sequence retrieval was performed using reference sequences of well-characterized rhodopsins from the NCBI database. Sequence encoding at least five-transmembrane helices with conserved lysine in the seventh helix were considered further for sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, and the presence of cellular targeting signals.
